Gary Carter’s Last Recorded Interview

Posted on 17 February 2012 by Bill Ivie

On February 16, 2012, major league baseball lost an amazing human being in Gary Carter.  The Hall Of Fame catcher lost his battle with brain tumors and left our world to go play baseball in that big field in the sky.

Almost exactly one year ago, on February 18, 2011, Ivie League Productions presented an episode of “The Kult Of Mets Personalities”.  A podcast featuring the personalities from KinersKorner.com, their guest that night was none other than “The Kid”, Gary Carter.

After doing some research since the news of his death, we believe that this episode was, in fact, the last recorded interview with Gary Carter.

You can listen to that episode here.

The Payoff Pitch – February 11 And 12

Posted on 10 February 2012 by Bill Ivie

It is the weekend, which means it is time for The Payoff Pitch, the official podcast of Full Spectrum Baseball.

Hosts Jay Ferraro and Ben Nisman give you all the insight you need to win your Fantasy Baseball League and stay on top of the game.  Joined by some subject matter experts and armed with their own wit, the guys will keep you entertained, laughing and informed.

This weekend is no different as they will be joined by Ben Nicholson-Smith and Derrick May.

Saturday, February 11
Ben Nicholson-Smith started covering baseball transactions for MLBTR in 2008 and has since written over 6,000 posts for the site.  He has also covered the GM Meetings, the Winter Meetings and MLB games in person for MLBTR. The Toronto Sun named him the 94th most influential Canadian in Baseball in 2011. Ben has appeared on countless radio programs and you can often hear him discussing baseball rumors on stations from coast to coast.  A graduate of the University of Western Ontario and of Carleton University’s Masters of Journalism program, Ben lives in Toronto.  Ben has contributed to sports TV and radio broadcasts at various levels.  Ben’s interest in baseball comes from listening to Blue Jays and Tigers games on the radio growing up.  Ben has been a fan since he was a toddler, and he has the crayon-marked, chewed up baseball cards to prove it. You can follow him on Twitter:@mlbtrben.

Sunday, February 12
Derrick May, the roaving minor league hitting instructor for the St. Louis Cardinals will join the show to discuss his job as well as some of the young talent in the Cardinals organization.
