April 22, 2012: Josh Hamilton went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base while driving in the tying run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning of the Texas Rangers’ 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Line: 3 AB | 1 R | 3 H | 2 RBI; HR (7) | SB (1) | SF
My fantasy perspective: Hamilton is on an absolute tear to start the 2012 season. He’s posted a fantasy baseball 5×5 line of .418/15/7/17/1 with a SLG% of .776 and a .513 wOBA. He’s currently the 2nd-ranked player by ESPN’s Player Rater tool behind only Matt Kemp (no shocker there).
Hamilton may always be a risky player to own in fantasy baseball, with his personal issues off the field and rick of injury on the field, but while in the lineup, he continues to be one of the games most powerful and dangerous players capable of MVP-caliber numbers. Enjoy these numbers while he’s healthy and focused.
